2.18.1.5 Faults and solutions of hydraulic steering system
Symptom
1. There is oil leakage.
2. The steering
operation is heavy.
3. The steering gear is
in failure.
4. There is no manual
steering.
5. The steering
operation
insensitive.
Operation Instruction
Reason
1. The rubber ring of pipe joint is
damaged or the bolt is loose.
2. The rubber ring of junction plane of
valve body, partition disk, stator and
rear cover is damaged.
3. The rubber ring of journal is damaged.
4. The bolts of coupling position of
steering gear are loose.
1. The gear oil pump fails to provide
sufficient oil, the gear oil pump has
internal leakage, the filter screen of
steering tank is blocked, the slow
steering operation is light and the quick
steering operation is heavy.
2. The steering system has air, and the oil
cylinder moves
rotating the steering wheel.
3. The steering tank has insufficient oil
level.
4. The safety valve spring force becomes
poor, or the steel ball fails to be sealed
properly, the steering operation is light
when light load but becomes heavy
when increasing load.
5. The oil viscosity is too large.
6. The steel ball one-way valve of valve
body is in failure, the steering wheel is
heavy whether quick steering or slow
steering, and the steering is powerless.
7. The steering system has oil leakage,
including internal leakage (oil cylinder)
and external leakage.
1. The pin is broken or has distortion.
2. The opening of universal driving shaft
is broken or has distortion.
3. The position of rotor and universal
driving shaft is incorrect.
4. The piston or piston seal ring of
steering oil cylinder is damaged.
1. The clearance between rotor and stator
is too large.
2. The sealing property of oil cylinder
piston is too poor; for power steering,
the driver fails to feel the end point
obviously when the oil cylinder piston
reaches its extreme
manual steering, the oil cylinder fails to
move when rotating the steering wheel.
1. The clearance between valve core and
valve bush is too large.
2. The clearance between universal
is driving shaft and pin is too large.
3. The clearance between universal
driving shaft and rotor is too large.
4. The return spring is broken or too soft.
1. Replace the rubber ring or fasten
the bolt.
2. Clean it and replace the rubber
ring.
3. Replace the rubber ring.
4.Fasten the bolt.
1. Check the gear oil pump, clean
the filter screen.
2. Discharge the air form the system,
sometimes when
check whether the oil suction pipe
has air.
3. Fill oil to the specified oil level.
4. Clean the safety valve and adjust
its spring pressure.
5. Adopt the specified oil.
6. Clean, repair or replace the
component.
7. Check and eliminate the oil
leakage point.
1. Replace the pin.
2. Replace the universal driving
shaft.
3. Reassemble it.
4. Replace the piston or seal ring.
