VIC 20 programs that need an extra 16 kB, or bank1,bank2 added to the X: line in
a CJM file (or the alternative 16k alias).
All USB devices work with the VIC 20 computer model as they do on the C64.
However, the VIC 20 only has one joystick port, so only one controller is ever
required.
CARTRIDGE FILES
Many of the virtual cartridge files for the VIC 20 are available as program (prg) files.
For these to run correctly on THEC64, they must be renamed as cartridge (crt) files.
Some virtual cartridge files for the VIC 20 are large and are split into separate files
that need to load into different memory locations (addresses) before they can run.
THEC64 evaluates the memory address requirements for each file automatically, so
you don't need to worry about the addresses.
To load a VIC 20 cartridge file (crt) that is split into multiple files, switch to Classic
mode and then auto-load each one in turn on a VIC 20 computer model. If one
cartridge file uses address A000 then load that last. When the final file is loaded, the
program will run.
If required, each file should have filename flags or an appropriate CJM file to set the
required amount of memory, set the computer model and so on.
e.g. auto-load game-part-1_MVB1B2FH.crt using Media access and then auto-load
game-part-2_MVB1B2FH.crt immediately afterwards. It doesn't matter in which
order the files are loaded unless you know one of the files uses address A000, which
auto-runs the program and so should be loaded last in the sequence.
You cannot load multi-file VIC 20 cartridges in Carousel mode. You have to use Media
access in Classic mode.
