7.4 Replacing a broken recoil spring

Loosen the screw as outlined in Figure 8 and re-
move the starter pulley and the spring cassette.

Replace the faulty spring cassette.
7.5 Assembling the starter unit

Refit the starter against the crankcase and tighten
the screws as outlined in Figure 9. Tightening
torque 2.5 - 3.9 Nm.
7.6 Testing the ignition module
In case of a fault in the ignition system, the ignition
module must be tested before the ignition system
is dismantled.
Check the ignition module as follows:
•
Unscrew the spark plug. Fit the 507 71 13-01
spark plug to the ignition cable and connect the
cabling used to test the 577 83 18-01 ignition
module as outlined in Figure 10.
•
Turn over the engine with the starter cord.
•
If a spark appears on the test spark plug, the
ignition module is not faulty.
