Installation Manual: Safety Edge

4.2.3.2 Two-wire edge sensors with end of line (EOL) resistor

Upon request, Tapeswitch offers all edge sensors in a two-wire (control reliable to meet safety performance level)
configuration. This configuration utilizes a single, two-wire cable at one end of the sensor and an appropriate EOL
resistor at the other. A suitable SIM (Tapeswitch PSSR/2) will provide a monitored system with safety outputs to
be interfaced to the machine control system as intended.
For applications that require an array of interconnected sensing edges and an end-of-line (EOL) resistor, all edge
sensor segments but the last must be of the 4-wire configuration. The last edge in the series must have the EOL
resistor at its output.
Note:
While utilizing the two-wire edge sensor with EOL resistor, the maximum resistance between actuator terminals
cannot exceed 8.7K ohms. This will render the sensing edge assembly incompatible with PSSR/2 model SIMs.
