Chapter 6: Lubrication

There are two separate lubrication systems on H series compressors:
1.
A gear type positive displacement pump provides pressurized oil from the
crankcase sump to the frame and running gear.
2.
A plunger type forced feed lubricator provides pressurized oil from the frame
oil system or alternate source, to the piston rings and rod packing.

Frame And Running Gear Lubrication

Frame and running gear lubrication is a gear type positive displacement pump
provides pressurized oil from the crankcase to the frame and running gear.

System operation
The lubricating oil is drawn from the crankcase sump by the frame oil pump
and discharged into the packager installed oil cooler. The frame oil pressure is
regulated by the external oil pressure regulator valve (PRV), which is downstream
of the frame oil pump. Oil flows through the oil cooler and is regulated by the
Temperature Control Valve (TCV). The oil flows through the full flow non-bypassing
spin-on type filter into the main bearings, rod bearings, and the crosshead pin.
