TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem
Dolby Digital or DTS
sources cannot be
played. (Dolby Digital
or DTS indicator in
the front panel
display does not light
up.)
A humming sound
can be heard.
The volume level is
low while playing a
record.
The volume level
cannot be increased,
or the sound is
distorted.
The sound effect
cannot be recorded.
A source cannot be
recorded by a digital
recording component
connected to this
DIGITAL OUTPUT
jack.
A source cannot be
recorded by an
analog component
connected to the
AUDIO OUT jacks.
The sound field
parameters and some
other settings on this
unit cannot be
changed.
This unit does not
operate properly.
CHECK SP WIRES
appears in the front
panel display.
There is noise
interference from
digital or radio-
frequency equipment,
or this unit.
The picture is
disturbed.
This unit suddenly
enters the standby
mode.

Cause
The connected component is not set to
output Dolby Digital or DTS digital
signals.
The input mode is set to ANALOG.
Incorrect cable connections.
No connection from the turntable to the
GND terminal.
The record is being played on a turntable
with an MC cartridge.
The component connected to the OUT
(REC) jacks of this unit is turned off.
It is not possible to record the sound effect
with a recording component.
The source component is not connected to
this unit's DIGITAL INPUT jacks.
Some components cannot record the
Dolby Digital or DTS sources.
The source component is not connected to
the analog AUDIO IN jacks of this unit.
Memory Guard is set to On.
The internal microcomputer has been
frozen by an external electric shock (such
as lightning or excessive static electricity)
or by a power supply with low voltage.
Speaker cables are short circuited.
This unit is too close to the digital or
radio-frequency equipment.
The video source uses scrambled or
encoded signals to prevent dubbing.
The internal temperature becomes too
high and the overheat protection circuitry
has been activated.
Remedy
Make an appropriate setting following the operations
instructions for your component.
Set the input mode to AUTO or COAX/OPT.
Firmly connect the audio plugs. If the problem
persists, the cables may be defective.
Connect the grounding cord of your turnable to the
GND terminal of this unit.
The turntable should be connected to this unit through
an MC-head amplifier.
Turn on the power to the component.
Connect the source component to the DIGITAL
INPUT jacks.
Connect the source component to the analog AUDIO
IN jacks.
Select Off.
Disconnect the AC power cable from the outlet and
then plug it in again after about 30 seconds.
Make sure all speaker cables are connected correctly.
Move this unit further away from such equipment.
Wait for about 1 hour until this unit cools down and
then turn it back on.
