5. EG attack, decay, and release times
• These values control how volume changes over time, start-
ing with the initial note strike and ending at the point where
the sound dies out. (Note that "EG" stand for envelope gen-
erator.)
• The attack time sets the time it takes for the sound to climb
to its peak volume, starting from its initial level of 0 (at the
moment when the "key" is first "struck"). Low values pro-
duce a rapid volume rise, while higher values produce a
more gradual climb.
• The decay time sets the time it takes for the volume to drop
from its peak level to its "sustain" level. Lower values pro-
duce crisper, clearer sounds.
• The release time sets the time it takes for the volume to fall
to 0 following the "physical" release of the note. The lower
the value, the faster the sound will go off.
