SPARK PLUGS
To remove the spark plugs, follow the
procedure below:
1. Remove the fuel tank by referring
to the FUEL TANK REMOVAL
section.

2. Remove the frame cover

5. Remove the spark plugs with a
spark plug wrench.
NOTE: Pry up the ignition coils with a
screwdriver or a bar if it is hard to
remove by hand. Do not pull the spark
plug cord.
CAUTION
Dirt can damage your engine if it
enters an open spark plug hole.
Cover the spark plug hole when-
ever the spark plug is removed.
INSPECTION
3. Release the connector locks and
disconnect the connectors (2) from
the ignition coils @.
4. Pull off the ignition coils @.
CAUTION
Improper removal of ignition coils
can damage the ignition coils.
Pull off the ignition coils with your
hand. Do not use pliers.
Adjust the spark plug gap to 0.7 - 0.8
mm (0.028 - 0.031 in) by using a
spark plug gap thickness gauge. The
spark plug should be replaced every
12000 km (7500 miles).
Whenever
removing
the
carbon
deposits, be sure to observe the oper-
ational color of each spark plug's por-
celain tip. This color tells you whether
or not the standard spark plug is suit-
able tor your type of usage. A normal
operating spark plug should be very
light brown in color. If the spark plug
is very white or glazed appearing, it
has been operating much too hot.
This spark plug should be replaced
with the colder plug.

CAUTION

An improper spark plug may have
an incorrect fit or heat range for
your engine. This may cause
severe engine damage which will
not be covered under warranty.
Use one of the spark plugs listed
below or equivalent. Consult your
Suzuki dealer or a qualified
mechanic if you are not sure
which spark plug is correct for
your type of usage.

NOTE: This motorcycle uses resistor-
type spark plug to avoid jamming
electronic parts. Improper spark plug
selection may cause electronic inter-
ference with your motorcycle's ignition
system, resulting in motorcycle per-
formance problems. Use only the rec-
ommended spark plugs.
