SUSPENSION ADJUSTMENT
The standard settings for. both the
front
and
rear
suspensions
are
selected to meet various riding condi-
tions such as low to high motorcycle
speed and light to heavy load on the
motorcycle. The suspension settings
can be adjusted to fine-tune then
according to your preference.
FRONT SUSPENSION
Spring Pre-load Adjustment
To change the spring pre-load, turn
the adjuster G) clockwise or counter-
clockwise. Turning the adjuster clock-
wise will increase the spring pre-load.
Turning the adjuster counterclockwise
will decrease the spring pre-load.
There are 5 grooved lines on the side
of the adjuster G) for reference. Posi-
tion 5 provides the minimum spring
pre-load and position O provides the
maximum pre-load. This motorcycle is
delivered from the factory with its
adjuster set on position 3.

Unequal suspension adjustment
can cause poor handling and loss
or stability.
Adjust the right and left front forks
to the same setting.
REAR SUSPENSION
Spring Pre-load Adjustment
The rear suspension spring pre-load
is adjustable to compensate for a
rider, load, riding style and road con-
ditions, The spring pre-load is adjust-
ble to 7 positions. To change the
spring pre-load setting, place the
motorcycle on the side stand. Twist
the spring tension ring to the desired
position with the adjuster provided in
the tool kit. Position 1 provides the
softest spring tension and position 7
provides the stiffest. This motorcycle
is delivered from the factory with its
idiuster set on position 3 (GSF1250),
position 4 (GSF1250S).
Damping Force Adjustment
The rebound damping force can be
adjusted by turning the adjuster G).
The rebound damping force adjuster
G) is located at the bottom of the rear
suspension.
To adjust the rebound damping force,
set the adjuster to the standard set-
ting first and then adjust the adjuster
to the desired position.
To set the rebound damping force
adjuster to the standard position,
turn the adjuster clockwise until it
stops and then turn it counterclock-
wise 1-1/4 turns until the two punch
marks align. If the two punch marks
do not align by turning out 1-1 /4 turns,
turn in or out the adjuster until two
punch marks align.
Turn the adjuster clockwise from the
standard position to stiffen the damp-
ing force. Turn the adjuster counter-
clockwise to soften the damping
force. The damping force should be
adjusted gradually, 1/8 turn at a time,
to fine-tune the suspension.
