To connect the IP71 to your computer
1. Place the IP71 in an appropriate working location.
2. Connect one end of the provided serial cable to an available serial port
Note
Although the console cable is a standard nine-pin male to ninepin female
straight-through serial cable, Nokia recommends that you use the cable
provided with the IP71.
3. Connect the receptacle end of the power supply cord to the 12 VDC

Using Hyperterminal

With the IP71 physically installed, the next task is to link your computer to
the IP71. The following example uses Windows HypterTerminal.
To link your computer to the IP71, do the following.
1. Access the Connection Description screen of the Hyperterminal New
Nokia IP71 User Guide
(commonly COM1 or COM2) on your computer and the other end of the
cable to the console port on the IP71.
Remember the port you are using. You will need to know this later in the
setup.
power socket on the IP71.
Connect the other end of the power supply cord to an existing power
source. You are now ready to link your computer to the IP71.
Connection function by using one of the following sequences:
For Windows NT, choose Start > Programs > Accessories >
Hyperterminal > HyperTerminal.
For Windows 98, choose Start > Programs > Accessories >
Communications > HyperTerminal. Click the Hypertrm icon on the
HyperTerminal screen.
