Operating The Infra-Red Remote Control
The optional Infra-Red Remote Control is designed to operate almost all System features. The hand-held unit
allows the user to conduct efficient product demonstrations while moving freely about the showroom. The
Remote has a range of about 20 feet. (If less, check the battery.) It is fairly directional and must be pointed
at and slightly down toward the MVP Control Panel to work. (This prevents inadvertent interference if more
than one System is operating in a location.) Like the MVP Control Panel, the Remote has no upper speed
limit, but it will time out if the operational steps are not correctly completed within three seconds after the
last key entry.
Notes: The maximum range of the Remote is affected by the angle the MVP Control Panel is
mounted. The greater the angle, the shorter the distance.
The red buttons labeled 1 through 14 are used for Chain selection. The Remote recognizes the upper chain
of the first Dual Chain Module connected to the MVP Control Module as 1, the lower Chain of the same
Dual Chain Module as 2, and so on consecutively up through 16. See page 68-69 of the Installation Section
for important information regarding Dual Chain Module placement as it relates to the Infra-Red Remote.
When Watt Meters are used in a System, they take up an extra Chain position, in addition to the Chain
contained on the Watt Meter. (See Figure 54, below).
With the I-R Remote you can select components on up to 14 Chains (1-14), program and
access the Lock-Out feature, System 1-30 and A/B compare. You can also start or stop the
Component Auto-Rotate feature.
With the I-R Remote you cannot reset the MVP Control Panel, activate or calibrate the MVP
Speaker Equalizer or access more than the first fourteen component chains.
NOTE: The flow diagrams on the following pages demonstrate usage of both the MVP Control Panel and
the Infra-Red Remote. Where Remote steps vary from the MVP Control Panel, you will find branches
in the flow diagram which will indicate the different steps. Where no deviations exist, the same flow
diagram applies to both the MVP Control Panel and the Remote.
