SAFETY FUNCTION
The GS01 gas detector is suitable for use in a safety function of safety integrity
level (SIL) 2. The GS01 gas detector can be used in low demand mode or in high
demand mode with a maximum demand of < 1 / 200 hours.
The safety-related characteristics listed in Section 8 may be used in the relevant
calculations required for IEC 61508 / 61511 safety-instrumented system
compliance.
The safety function of the GS01 is the detection of potentially explosive gas
concentrations. The gas concentration in %LEL is converted into a digital
measured value and provided as a radio signal using the ISA100 Wireless™
standard and the PROFIsafe profile to a control system. ISA100 Wireless ensures
AES128 bit encryption (AES = Advanced Encryption Standard) of all transmitted
data. This encryption may by no means be de-activated by the operator.
The GS01 gas detector will perform all critical diagnostic functions within the
intervals as specified in Table 8-1.
