7 Maintenance & troubleshooting

7.1 General maintenance

7.1.1
The user is not allowed to carry out maintenance
on the UPS, we recommend that you contact local
certified service engineers.
7.1.2
The UPS system needs regular and constant
maintenance (preventive inspections) at least
once a year, even during the warranty period.
Please refer to your authorized service partner for
the recommended maintenance plan (including
the specific scheduled replacement of fans and
power capacitors). Performing regular and pre-
ventive maintenance not only keeps perfor-
mance stable and extends the life of the equip-
ment, but also decreases the risk of failure. In
case these activities are not performed correct
functioning of the equipment may be affected.
Maintenance inspections are essential to ensure
a correct functionality and reliability of the
UPS system.
During maintenance the field service engineer
may carry out some or all of following checks:
• Status and function check of UPS and batteries
• UPS and batteries visual inspection (dust, me-
chanical damages, ...)
• Visual inspection of screws and cable connec-
tions
• Check of air ventilation and room temperature
• Check the operation and function (commuta-
tions, remote monitoring and Signaling)
• Current, voltage and frequency measurements
• Measuring and registration of current load con-
ditions
THE OPERATIONS DESCRIBED IN THIS
CHAPTER MUST BE PERFORMED BY A
CERTIFIED SERVICE ENGINEER OF THE
MANUFACTURER OR BY AN AGENT
CERTIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER

User responsibilities

Preventive maintenance

• Checking of load sharing (only in parallel sys-
tems)
• Battery voltage check
• Battery discharge test
• Check transfer of the load from UPS to mains
operation via static bypass
• Unit cleaning
• Preventive replacement of fans and capacitors
7.1.3

Deep battery test

The battery test takes approx. 3 minutes and
should be performed only if:
• There are no alarm conditions
• The battery is fully charged
• Mains is present.
The battery testing can be carried out inde-
pendently of the operation mode (OFF-LINE or
ON-LINE) and whether or not the load is con-
nected. The battery test procedure can be per-
formed from the UPS HMI, in the "User" setup
menu or in the "Set-up User" menu of the Service
Control Panel. The battery test can be planned
and executed periodically once a month
7.1.4
Battery maintenance, disposal and re-
cycling
BATTERY MAINTENANCE SHOULD BE
CARRIED OUT BY A CERTIFIED SERVICE
PARTNER.
TO ENSURE OPTIMUM OPERATION OF THE
UPS SYSTEM AND CONTINUOUS AND
EFFICIENT PROTECTION OF THE
CONNECTED LOAD WE RECOMMEND
CHECKING OF THE BATTERIES EVERY 12
MONTHS.
BATTERIES CONTAIN DANGEROUS
SUBSTANCES THAT WILL HARM THE
ENVIRONMENT IF DISPOSED OF. IF YOU
CHANGE THE BATTERIES YOURSELF, CALL
QUALIFIED ORGANIZATIONS FOR
BATTERY DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING.
