    Introduction The adjustable Eleganza Smart Junior bed is designed for the hospitalisation of paediatric patients in the age of 4 - 15 years with minimal height of 90cm, on standard hospital and long-term care wards. The manufacturer does not exclude placing the bed in intensive care units, but this can be considered only on the basis of the responsible choice of the medical care provider.

    Bed Installation and Putting Into Operation Remove the packaging from the bed and destroy the ecological packaging material. If the beds are delivered in double packs (two beds one above the other), carefully remove the top bed and lay it on the floor. At least two persons must carry this out! Check the delivery is complete according to the delivery note.

    7.3 Charging the Backup Battery The bed may be delivered with an attached backup battery. Before starting to use the bed the battery must be charged to the sufficient capacity by connecting the bed to the mains. The course of the charging and capacity of the battery is indicated on the nurse control panel with the aid of a yellow warning light.

    Bed Adjustment The various controls stated in the next chapters can be used to electrically adjust the bed. The choice of controls corresponds to the bed equipment ordered by the customer. 8.1 Nurse Control Panel (Supervisory Panel) The nursing staff control panel is kept in the rack under the foot end. The control can be removed and can be placed on the bed end or hand held when controlling the bed.

  • Page 17 8.1.3.1 Resuscitation Position – CPR This safety position is designed for resuscitation. The individual parts of the mattress platform and the mattress platform itself are set at the horizontally lowest position. The keys must be held until the position is finally set. This function cannot be blocked. 8.1.3.2 Trendelenburg Anti-shock Position This safety position is used for a situation when anti-shock conditions must be secured for a person on the bed.
  • Page 18 8.1.4 Locking the Individual Positions The bed is equipped with a safety function disabling the setting of the individual positions by using locks on the central control panel. The blocking is carried out in the same way as with standard positioning: 1.

    Hand Control The hand control is used by the patient, the operator respectively, to adjust the individual parts of the mattress platform of the bed. The same procedure applies for setting the positions on the hand control as when adjusting the bed’s positions with the aid of the nurse control panel: activating the keyboard by pressing the activating “GO”...

    CPR Unblocking of Backrest urgent situations such as immediate reanimation (CPR) the bed allows the backrest to be quickly mechanically folded. The CPR lever is used for this purpose located under the bed frame at the head of the patient. This method of folding the backrest is used particularly when there is a power cut.

    Calf Rest The position of the calf rest can be set mechanically with the aid of a serrated raster using the procedure described hereunder. By gripping both handrails of the rest and continuously pulling, the calf rest can be set to the appropriate position.      Bed Ends The Eleganza Smart Junior beds are equipped with two removable (head and foot) ends, which are offered in several differend materials used. The used material does not affect the end removal procedure. Both ends can be locked so they cannot be pulled out by a safety lever in the relevant position.

    The Eleganza Smart Junior beds are delivered wither without siderails or with single-section collapsible siderails (1 pair per bed). When you order Eleganza Smart Junior bed without any side-rails, it is not possible to order the side-rails later for this bed. The construction of the bed does not allow subsequent assembly of the side-rails.

    By pulling the siderail in the opposite direction to an erect position in which the arrestment mechanism will be secured spontaneously. Do not use part of the siderails marked on figure (picture below) for handling the siderail – in certain situations the operator may trap his fingers between the siderails and the adjustable backrest or head end of the bed.

    The appropriate height can be adjusted for the patient by shortening this belt. Linet is offering plastic triangular handrails, telescopic infusion stands and stainless steel baskets for infusion solutions suitable for Eleganza Smart Junior bed. The infusion stand can be slid into the opening at the head end together with 4 hooks for suspending the bottle or basket for the infusion solutions.
