INTRODUCTION PTB-017 Fig. 1 - Glencoe ® SS7400 Soil Saver® with Optional Ridge Leveler The Glencoe ® SS7400 Soil Saver ® is a primary tillage tool for residue management. The SS7400 is available in 7, 9, 11, 13-shank rigid models along with 15 and 17-shank folding models. These tillage tools cut and slice crop residues, then incorporate the residue into an erosion-resistant blanket.

SAFETY LOCKUP DEVICE With the implement fully raised, install cylinder lockup channel on main lift cylinder (Fig.14 ). Install pin through channel to hold channel in position. WARNING! ALWAYS INSTALL LOCKUP WHEN WORKING UNDER OR AROUND IMPLEMENT AND WHEN TRANSPORTING IMPLEMENT. When not in use, store lockup channel on front frame cross member support (Fig.15 ).

OPERATION RESIDUE MANAGEMENT PLANNING Residue management is the most commonly used method of protecting our valuable topsoil from wind and water erosion. Tables 1 and 2 (next page) will assist in planning desired residue levels. Each tillage or planting operation leaves a percent of the residue that was present just prior to the operation. The number in Table 2 represents the remaining percentages.
