Impedance Test
The impedance is the resistance between the measuring electrodes (Vertex & Mastoid)
and the ground electrode. This impedance is influenced by the resistance of the
electrodes and more important, the resistance of the skin. Ideally, the impedance
should be in the range of 1 to 8 kΩ for each electrode pair (Mastoid / GND (Ground)
and Vertex / Ground). Impedance in this range will allow the best EEG quality. The
impedance is improved by the application of the electrode gel. Low electrode
impedance is optimal for the best quality recording. Impedance between 8-15 will still
allow the measurement to begin, but data quality may be poorer taking a longer time
to pass or possibly contributing to a higher refer rate.
The top of the test screen shows the impedance indicator lights (see Figure 34 and
Figure 35). Here the tester can easily see the status of the impedance test for each of
the three electrodes. The green color symbolizes good impedance, yellow means not
optimal, but will proceed with the measurement. Red signals indicate unacceptable
impedance and the test will not proceed.

INFORMATION
After the test is finished you can change the ear to be tested.
Clicking on the Start Measurement button starts a new test. The
function button changes to Stop Measurement.
An ongoing test can be aborted by clicking on the button Stop
Measurement. The pop-up window "Test aborted, because..."
opens. The result (ABORT and the reason) will be displayed and
stored in the database for quality-controlled tracking.
NOTE: If a measurement has been aborted while the tracking
function was enabled the Advanced Tracking data screen
opens with Last Name, First Name and Address 1 highlighted
yellow. Enter the data and Save or select Cancel.
Suspends the ongoing test. In this case this button changes into
Continue... The status indication at the bottom of the screen continues
to show "Test in progress". Select the button again to resume.
Terminates the measurement and returns to the start screen.
If EEG is enabled (check-box), the EEG signal is displayed
during measurements, otherwise signal quality bar indicators
display.
