DLm8500 can have a DD6800, DD9300, or DD9800 back-end. The Data Domain
cabinet contains:
One Data Domain controller
l
ES30/DS60 enclosures
l
In the case of DLm8500 systems (DLm 5.0 and later) shipped from the factory,
each attached Data Domain system has up to 8 ES30 enclosures or up to 2 DS60
enclosures.
Note
DAEs with 4 or 8 SSD drives are required to support Data Domain HA.
Two power drops

Each storage DAE includes:
Fifteen 2 or 3 or 4 TB SAS disk drives per ES30 enclosure or sixty 2 or 3 or 4 TB
l
SAS disk drives per DS60
Two LCCs
l
Redundant power supplies
l
Note
To support proper RAID and spare operations, all disk drives within an individual DAE
must be the same size.
The boot DAE includes:
Four SAS drives

Two LCCs
l
Redundant power supplies
l
Two power drops for maximum configuration
l
This section covers the configuration and host connectivity details of the DLm8500
with DD system.
To support DLm replication operations between back-end storage systems, you must
configure your firewall to allow traffic on particular network ports that are different
for each back-end storage system type.
These network ports are required to connect the DLm and the SRS gateways.
