INSPECTION OF PARTS

Capacitor

1. Ohmmeter method
Set the ohmmeter to the 10M range. Place the two probes against the two terminals of the
capacitor. At first, the ohmmeter should indicate a small value, and then the reading should
gradually increase towards infinity. This indicates that the capacitor is charging. If the reading
indicates infinity immediately (open) or the ohmmeter fails to move from 0 (short), replace the
capacitor.
2. Capacitors for compressor
If the tester indicates the capacitance is less than 90% of the value below, replace the capacitor.
- Voltage: 370VAC
- Rating Capacitance: 40 μF
3. Capacitors for condenser fan motors
If the tester indicates the capacitance is less than 90% of the value below, replace the capacitor.
- Voltage: 450VAC
- Rating Capacitance: 7 μF
• Always discharge the capacitor before and after testing. If not, it may cause electric shock,
damage to test equipment or malfunction.
