Re-installing Solaris 8 (10/00) From the CD-ROM
1. Break to the OpenBoot PROM ok prompt and type the following (Note that ^C
indicates Control-C):
ok nvedit
0:prepare-for-installation
1:
^C
ok nvstore
ok setenv use-nvramrc? true
ok reset-all
2. Install Solaris 8 (10/00) by following the instructions in the documentation
supplied with the CDs.
3. When you have installed Solaris 8 (10/00), install the following patches from
SunSolve:
Patch 108528-04 (or later): this is the kernel update patch
Patch 109793-04 (or later): this is the serial driver patch
4. When you have applied the patches, type:
# shutdown
5. Next, at the OpenBoot PROM ok prompt, type:
ok setenv use-nvramrc? false
Caution – Do not forget to execute the setenv use-nvramrc? false command.
6. Finally, boot your system. For example, type:
ok boot disk
