    3.9 Messages on display The display indicates the hardware status of device and the menu items. Given in table below are the various display messages and the corresponding device status. □: Means that an arbitrary message is displayed on the top. [CODE]: Displays an arbitrary numeric value.

    4 INSTALLATION 4.1 Installation space Install the device on a lat surface that is wide enough to accommodate the legs of the device. As shown in the following figures, allow enough space around the device. All the dimensions shown in following igures are in millimetres. User defined...

    4.2 Connecting a LAN cable A LAN cable can be used to connect the device to a computer via a wired network. Before installing the printer driver (see paragraph 4.4), connect the printer to the network using a LAN cable. Proceed as follows: Prepare a LAN cable and hub.

    4.3 Connecting a USB cable Make sure not insert the USB cable into the network interface connector. Doing so may cause a malfunction. For Windows, do not insert the other end of the USB cable into the computer until an instruction appears on the screen during the printer driver installation.

    5.4 Replacing the toner cartridge When “Order toner” is displayed on the screen of the operation panel, prepare a replacement cartridge. When “Replace toner” is displayed and printing is stopped, replace the toner cartridge. The print quality deteriorates after one year or more passes since you open the toner cartridge. In this case, prepare a new toner cartridge for replacement.

    5.5 Checking the paper sensors position The position for setting the paper sensors differs according to the paper to use. You must conigure the parameters “Paper form”, “Cut type” and “Gap length” (see paragraph 7.1) during the printer driver or operation panel coniguration procedure (see paragraph 7.2) and set the correct value of this parameters as described in the following table.

    5.6 Adjusting the paper sensors position Insert your finger below the gray lever on the left, and lift it up to open the feeder cover. Insert a stick-shaped thing with a pointing tip (such as a ball-point pen) into the back of the metal part of the upper sensor on the back of the feeder cover, and pull it out to unlock it.

    5.10 Loading the paper To change the paper roll proceed as follows. At every paper change, check inside the device to locate and remove any scraps of paper.     6 PANEL OPERATION 6.1 Display description The display indicates the status of the device and the menu items, etc. When the device can perform printing, the message “Ready to print” is displayed on the top of the screen.
