Drive Shaft – Coupler Alignment
The center box seed shaft is driven from the drive wheel
on the right wing. The drive shaft connects via a coupler
when the Grain Drill is unfolded. The drive shaft coupler
should be in alignment when the drill is unfolded and in
the planting position.
1. To align the coupler, loosen the adjustment bolts A,
B, and C (See Figure 4-34.)
2. Loosen any setcrews at the seed transmission
bearings on the center section. The center frame
drive shaft should now be free to slide side-to-side.
3. Unfold the drill and lower the openers to planting
position.
4. Rotate and align the male and female couplers teeth
and slide the center drive shaft to the right until the
teeth fully engage.

5. Tighten the "A" adjustment bolt and any set screws
that were loosened at the seed transmission.
6. Slide the drive shaft bearing mount forward or
rearward to align the shaft in that direction and
tighten the "B" adjustment bolts.
7. Raise or lower the height of the drive shaft until the
coupler is in alignment vertically and tighten the
bearing flange bolts "C".
8. After starting planting operations, check the drive
shaft coupler after a short period of actual planting to
verify that the drive shafts are still in alignment. If not,
adjust as necessary to maintain alignment.
