Although most of the ICs that control CD operation are on the CD Servo board (see Figure 4-8), the CD cannot
begin without the main CPU nor output sound without the audio processing both on the main board. Table 4-8
lists the CD ICs and their functions.
It is interesting to note that if the CD assembly were unplugged (CN6 and CN7) so there is no communications
between CD IC8 and the main CPU IC1010 via IC2003, the MEX-1HD will take 51 seconds for the 9kHz / 10kHz
AM spacing to appear on the display when power is input. It normally takes 5 seconds for the AM spacing to
appear.
