BERNINA
3.1 Long and Basting Stitch (Model 930)
With stitch length selection 4mm and the "long stitch" engaged the machines sews every other stitch thus achieving a maximum stitch length
of 8mm. With the "basting stitch" engaged the machine sews every sixth stitch thus achieving s stitch length of 24mm.

Cams
The cams control the motion for the coupling and decoupling of needle bar
Rocker/follower
The cam follower and the rocker mechanism swings from left to right. Each time the lever swings to the left the needle
arm
bar is being disengaged, each time the lever swings to the right the needle bar is being engaged.
Needle bar clutch
The needle bar is connected to the take up lever assembly by a needle bar clutch/clutch pin. The pin is moved by a release
lever, each time the pin is out of the needle bar, the needle stays up, each time the pin is in the needle bar the bar moves
up and down
Needle bar guide
The guide holds the needle bar straight while the needle bar is disengaged. The guide holds the needle bar in place for the
clutch pin to find the hole in the needle bar.
Needle bar spring When the needle bar is decoupled the spring pulls and hold the needle bar up.
Needle bar
The cushioner limits the height of the decoupled needle bar for the for the clutch pin to find the needle bar hole.

Thread catcher
The thread catcher holds the thread tight while the needle bar is disengaged.
