User's Manual
The M5, M15 and EM5 are actuators for motorized valves with
rotating stem motion, and air dampers.
The running time for the M5 is approximately 80 s and for M15
approximately 300 s. They are used for controllers with increase/
decrease output.
The EM5 is applied for controllers with output voltage of 2–
10 V DC.
Mounting on VTR, VTRA, STM and STMT valves
with a travel of 180°, see figure 1.
– Turn the valve stem to position "cold".
– Check that the actuator stands in position minus (7). If not, it
has to be run to position minus according to figure 3.
– Undo the screws (1 ) and mount the bracket (2) on the valve.
– Mount the trip lever (3) onto the valve stem so it will point
towards minus on the actuator.
The locking screw (4) is placed in the hole of the trip lever,
which corresponds to the hole in the valve stem.
– Push the actuator towards the valve. The key way on the trip
lever should fit into one of the slots on the carrier (5). Mount
the lock ring (6) so that the slot, which is not used, is blocked.
– Tighten the screws (1). A gap of approximately 1 mm should
be between the trip lever (3) and the carrier (5).
– The valve can be manually operated now by means of
pressing the push button on the trip lever.
– Remove the plastic cover on the actuator and connect the
cables to the terminal block according to the wiring diagram.
Refer also to the circuit diagram in the actuator.
– Mount the plastic cover.

– Mount the actuator on the damper and fasten the crank arm
of the damper on the lever arm of the actuator, see figure 2.
– Adjust the crank arm and, if necessary, the lever arm so that
the damper travels across the complete operating range,
when running the actuator from one limit position to the other.
Testing of the actuator is done according to figure 3.
– Remove the plastic cover on the actuator and connect the
cables to the terminal block according to the wiring diagram.
See also the circuit diagram in the actuator.
– Mount the plastic cover.
