After the flag resets, you see the following confirmation and
instructions:

6. Turn the printer off, and leave it off for at least 10 seconds.
7. Turn the printer back on. The printer performs the initial ink charge.
This takes a little over a minute.
8. When you're done, press Esc repeatedly to return to the main menu
or exit the program.

5.2.9 Checking and Clearing the Waste Ink Counter

You need to reset the waste ink counter if:

All four LEDs on the control panel are blinking.
When all four LEDs on the control panel are blinking, a
Maintenance Error has occurred. When the printer displays the
Maintenance Error, the waste ink pads are full of ink. Replace
the waste ink pads with new ones by following the steps in
"Upper Case and Control Panel Removal"
remove the upper case. Then remove the screws shown in
Figure 4-6
to access the waste ink pads. Replace the pads with
new ones, and then clear the waste ink counter as described
below.

The counter value of either waste ink pad is within 10,000 units
of its service limit.
The service limits of the waste ink pads are:
• Left pad: 35,800 max. (25,800 recommended)
• Right pad: 33,300 max. (23,300 recommended)
If you notice that the waste ink pads are close to their service
limit (within 10,000 units), you should replace them before
they're completely filled up. Then clear the waste ink counter as
described on
page 148

To check the current value of the waste ink counter, follow these steps:
