Operating Instructions (G9000 UPS 80–750kVA)
Before operation of UPS and ESS system, initial startup must be performed by Authorized Service Personnel (ASP). The
ASP must set the voltage and charge current parameters in the G9000 UPS and program external input/output terminals.
These actions should be done in accordance with the G9000 Service Manual.
Starting the UPS and Charging the Batteries
1. Turn on the G9000 UPS. Wait until the display appears, the converter turns on, and the unit becomes fully energized.
2. On the front display panel of the G9000 UPS, press the Start/Stop button to turn on the inverter of the UPS.
3. Close the SCiB battery breaker. The breaker of the SCiB can't be closed unless the UPS has been powered up due
to the UVR of the SCiB battery breaker. The G9000 UPS will not provide output voltage until the SCiB battery breaker
has been closed. Note: For multi-cabinet SCiB ESS, the Leader cabinet (Cabinet #1) should be turned on AF-
TER all Follower cabinets have been energized.
4. Turn on the 480VAC control power breaker located at the bottom of the ESS enclosure.
5. Put the G9000 UPS in Online Mode. Once the UPS has output voltage then the power supplies of the SCiB battery
cabinet will turn on and power up the host controller. The LED lights will flash as the system initializes.
At startup if the battery voltage is lower than the charger voltage (at UPS), the inverter
will turn off and transfer the UPS to bypass, fault led will turn ON. This is a normal reac-
tion; UPS will correct the charger voltage and automatically turn ON the inverter and
clear the fault.
6. The G9000 UPS will then start charging the SCiB battery cabinet. For multi-cabinet systems, the master cabinet will
determine which cabit will close contactors first and begin charging. Once voltages are balanced between cabinets, all
contactors will be closed.
NOTE: The G9000 UPS will assume the batteries are depleted if the SCiB breaker is not turned on within 5
minutes of applying power to the UPS. If this happens, then press the "Start" button on the G9000 UPS.
7. The green LED will start flashing indicating the UPS is charging the batteries.
8. Once the batteries are fully charged, then the green LED will stay on.
