Procedure for Cable/Wire Connections

1. Confirm the capacity of the UPS being installed. Identify the DC power terminal block according to Figure 7.7 as well
as relevant information in the G9000 UPS IO Manual.
2. Connect the control and power wire between the UPS & SCIB ESS according to Figure 7.7.
Control Wire Connections:
a. 80-750kVA G9000 UPS:
i.
UVR Contacts on TN1-1 and TN1-2 in UPS. Note: UVR contacts are only present in 80-750kVA systems.
ii.
AUX Contacts on TN1-3 and TN1-4.
iii. Charger Start/Stop Contacts on TN1-11 and TN1-12.
iv. Remote Stop Contacts on TN1-9 and TN1-10.
v.
TB-4 Jumpers: Connect JP1 from TB-4 (1) to TB-4 (9) & JP2 from TB-4 (2) to TB-4 (10).
b. 1000-2000kVA G9000 UPS:
i.
AUX Contacts on TN11-14-21 and TN11-14-22.
ii.
Charger Start/Stop Contacts on TN11-14-29 and TN11-14-30.
iii. Remote Stop Contacts on TN11-14-27 and TN11-14-28.
iv. TB-4 Jumpers: Connect JP1 from TB-4 (9) to TB-4 (11) & JP2 from TB-4 (10) to TB-4 (12).
c. Connect 480VAC control power from distribution panel to the SCiB ESS as shown in Figure 7.7. Follow equipment
recommendation in Section 7.6 and below instructions for conductor installation.
i.
Wiring must comply with all applicable electrical codes.
ii.
Turn off power before removing or installing disconnect.
iii. Strip wires to 3/8 inch (9.5 mm).
iv. Locate Line Side port connected to Load Side port at CN-UPS-1 and CN-UPS-2 in the first SCiB ESS Cabi-
net.
v.
Connect wire from PH-A of the distribution firmly into Line Side port opposite the black circle Load Side con-
nection (CN-UPS-1).
vi. Connect wire from PH-B of the distribution firmly into remaining port opposite of CN-UPS-2.
vii. Repeat for connectors between each SCiB ESS Cabinet, ensuring black circled ports are connected for both
Line and Load connections.
viii. Use only one conductor per port and assure that no copper is exposed on any of the wires inserted.
ix. The wire insertion side of this product is listed for ONE TIME USE ONLY. DO NOT REMOVE AND REPLACE
WIRES.
DC Power Cable Connection:
a. Size cables according to the Installation Planning Guide in Appendix A of the G9000 UPS IO Manual.
b. Connect positive cables to BP bus bar in UPS.
c. Connect negative cables to BN bus bar in UPS.
3. Connect the inter-cabinet ethernet communication wires between CNU-IN and CNU-OUT and as shown in Figure
7.7. Note: Use only S-STP Ethernet Cable. Use of non S-STP Ethernet cable will cause loss of communication
between cabinets. This step applies to ESS with multiple cabinets only.
