4. The SCiB ESS ships with individual battery modules disconnected. Strings should be connected using jumper wires

shipped with the cabinets. See Figure 7.8. for connection details. Note: voltage exists at battery terminals. Proper

PPE should be worn during this step. Use ONLY the screws provided with the jumpers to connect the wire to

the battery terminals. Incorrect screw size can lead to loose connection and possible damage to the battery

terminal. Correct screw size for jumpers is M6x12mm. Correct screw size for top bus bar is M6x16mm.

5. Multiple color-coded ethernet communication connections must be made within the SCiB ESS cabinet(s). They are

listed below and shown in Figure 7.9 as well as the enlarged diagram below.

a. RJ-CMU101 connected to Battery 101 communication input.

b. RJ-CMU201 connected to Battery 201 communication input.

c. RJFT-1 and RJFT-2 connected to the corresponding RJFT-1 and RJFT-2 on the fuse trays.

Each fuse tray contains a micro-switch that will trip the battery breaker if removed.

This is a safety measure that must be kept in mind when manipulating the fuse

trays. Micro-switch is located behind the right side screw of the tray. When the

screw is tightened it closes the micro-switch making a closed connection. As soon

as the screw is loosened, the micro-switch will cause a fault and interrupt the bat-

tery connection.
