"Vehicle LED is flashing red

If the MTS 6531 does not detect 12 V
on Pin 16 of the diagnostic connection cab-
le, MTS 6531 will inform the user by
automatically turning on and flashing the Ve-
hicle LED red. This condition might be seen if
MTS 6531 is only powered by a 5-V USB
connection or if the diagnostic connection cable
has accidently been displaced from the vehicle
Data Link Connector and is powered from the
backup capacitor. When MTS 6531 de-
tects 12 V on Pin 16, the Vehicle LED will stop
flashing red.
Recommendations
1. Ensure that 12 V is applied to Pin 16 of the
diagnostic connection cable.
2. Ensure ground on J1962 pin 5 is good.
6.4
MTS 6531 speaker is
beeping
If MTS 6531 is performing diagnostic
services for the computer and does not detect
12 V on Pin 16 of the diagnostic connection
cable, MTS 6531 will inform the user
of the loss of power by beeping the spea-
ker. MTS 6531 will continue to beep
until the backup capacitor is drained. When
MTS 6531 detects 12 V on Pin 16, the
speaker will stop beeping.
Recommendations
Ensure that 12 V is applied to Pin 16 of the
diagnostic connection cable during diagnostic
sessions.
