To Turn the Heater ON – Lighting Instructions
If you smell gas do not attempt to turn on the heater.
If the water heater has been previously drained perform Lighting Procedure 1.
If the water heater has not been previously drained perform Lighting Procedure 2.
Lighting Procedure 1
1. Screw in the drain plugs at the cold water inlet and hot water outlet of the water heater
(refer to 'Frost Protection & Draining the Water Heater' illustration on page 7).
2. Open all premises hot taps including shower hot taps.
3. Fully open the cold water isolation valve at the cold water inlet to the water heater. Air
will be forced out of the hot taps.
4. Close each hot tap when water runs freely from it (when air is purged water will run
freely from the hot tap without spluttering).
5. Fully open the gas isolation valve at the gas inlet to the water heater.
The water heater will automatically operate when a hot tap is opened provided the flow
rate through the heater is > 3 L/m.
Lighting Procedure 2
1. Fully open the cold water isolation valve at the cold water inlet to the water heater.
2. Fully open the gas isolation valve at the gas inlet to the water heater.
The water heater will automatically operate when a hot tap is opened provided the flow
rate through the heater is > 3 L/m.

To Turn the Heater OFF

Perform the following procedure if it is necessary to turn the water heater off.
1. Close the gas isolation valve at the gas inlet to the water heater.
2. Close the cold water isolation valve at the cold water inlet to the water heater.
Note: The water heater is not fitted with frost protection and must be drained if freezing
conditions are likely to occur (refer to 'Frost Protection & Draining the Water Heater'
procedure on page 7).
