Cardioplegia Hose Connectors

The MCH-1000(i), if equipped with the optional
Cardioplegia Shared Channel (CSC) Module, features a
second set of hose connectors that are identical to the
main hose connectors. Maximum water flow at the
cardioplegia connectors is approximately 8 liters/minute
(2 gal/min) with open hoses (unrestricted flow). Actual
water flow when connected to a heat exchanger will
vary, depending on the flow characteristics of the heat
exchanger being used. Water is routed directly from the
pump to the OUT connector and recirculated into the
system at the IN connector. Water flow is controlled by
the CPG controls on the touchscreen. These connectors
are oriented horizontally on the side of the MCH-1000(i).

Internal Recirculation Valve

The internal recirculation valve is located on the rear
panel of the MCH-1000(i), and allows the operator to
stop water flow through external hoses, recirculating
the water internally within the MCH. This may be
useful for initial system priming (before hoses are
connected), or preheating/precooling water during a procedure. Under normal operation, the
valve should remain in the NORMAL position. To disable water flow through the Main &
Blanket hoses and enable internal recirculation, turn the valve to the INTERNAL position. To
disable water flow completely, turn the valve to the OFF position. This does not affect cold CPG.
WARNING: Do not operate the MCH with the valve in the OFF position. Leaving
!
the valve in the OFF position, or in NORMAL without hoses connected, while the
MCH is running will cause a temperature-related alarm, and may damage the system.
