ELECTRIC-ARC FUSION SPLICER

4.2 Splice Mode

In this mode, all the parameters related to the splicing
process can be modifi ed:
Parameter
Allows to select between 8 diff erent types of
Fiber type
fi ber. By defalult, the "SM" option is confi gured.
Allows to select between 5 diff erent types of
Splice Mode
splicing modes. By default, the "Auto" option
is confi gured.
Splice program
Allows to choose between the diff erent splice
programs.
Edit splice
Allows to modify the parameters of the
program
selected splice program (see section 4.2.1)
The splicer makes a "pre-arc" that erases any
possible defects present on the fi ber before
Clean Arc
splicing. This option allows to modify the
duration
duration of the cleaning operation (by default
the value is 120ms).
By default 3º, allows to confi gurate the
Core angle limit
maximum angular limit between cores to
perform the splicing process.
By default 0.8º, allows to confi gurate the
Fiber angle limit
maximum angular limit of the fi ber to perform
the splicing process.
By default 0.4um, allows to confi gurate the
Fiber deviation
maximum limit of deviaton between fi bers to
limit
perform the splice.
Maximum loss value acceptable.
Values higher than selected will be indentifi ed
Loss limit
as inadecuate.
By default is confi gured with a value of 0.05dB.
This parameter allows the modifi cation of the
enhanced duration of the arc (usual value:
1000ms). It can be increased in case that after
Manual ReARC
splicing, there is narrowing detected on the
time
fi ber at the splicing spot. If the fi ber is thicker
on that spot (forms a bulge), it can be reduced.
These values are seldom modifi ed.
Description
Method used by the splicer to align the
Align mode
fi bers (core or cladding). Always should be
confi gured by "Core" mode.
If this option is activated, the splicer will
Quick splice
perform a splice in less time.
Forces the splice process to begin if the option
Force splice
is activated.

4.2.1 Edit splice program

In this option, the parameters of the splice program
previously selected can be modifi ed by the user.
Parameter
Pre-splice
Duration of the process previous to splicing.
duration
By default 120ms.
Pre-Arc
Pre-arc discharge power (in bits).
power
Splice duration
Time pulse (us). Never modify this value.
Arc power
By default 801 bits. Never modify this value.
Mounting or pushing a fi ber on top of another
when splicing (in m).
Overlap
It controls the thickness of the fi ber at the
splicing spot, once the splicing process is
complete.
Approximation
Approximation speed of the fi bers. By default
speed
the value is set in 30m/s.
If this option is activated, the device will launch
Activate 2nd arc
a second arc after the splicing process is
complete to erase dirt.

4.3 Heating mode

In this option, the heating parameters can be modifi ed by
the user, as well as the heat-shrink protectors, heating
temperature and the duration of the same.
