The G8272 supports copper and optical transceivers, Direct Attached Copper
(DAC) cables and Active Optical Cables (AOC).
Note: This section covers the basic types of connectors that can be installed on the
switch. We recommend you to consult the
Options Catalog
for the full list of supported transceivers, DACs or Active Optical
Cables cables.
To install a supported transceiver, see
Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus (SFP+) port slots support the following approved
connector types:
1 GbE SFP or 10 GbE SFP+ copper or optical transceivers
10 GbE SFP+ DAC cables
10 GbE SFP+ Active Optical Cables
SFP copper transceivers provide an RJ45 connector that accepts a standard
10/100/1000 BASE-T (Category 5) cable in 100/1000 BASE-T mode. When used in 10
GbE mode, you must use CAT6 copper cabling.
SFP optical transceivers provide two fiber-optic cable connectors for connecting to
external ports.
Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable Plus (QSFP+) port slots support the following
approved connector types:
40 GbE QSFP+ optical transceivers
40 GbE QSFP+ DAC cables
40 GbE QSFP+ Active Optical Cables
10 GbE SFP+ copper or optical transceivers, DAC cables, or Active Optical
Cables in breakout adapters
QSFP+ optical transceivers provide an MTP cable connector for connecting to
external ports.
Note: For the G8272, QSFP+ Bi-Directional (BiDi) optical transceivers can only be
installed in QSFP+ port slots 49, 50, 53, and 54. They cannot be installed in QSFP+
port slots 51 or 52.
