for 5 to15 minutes to facilitate
baseplate removal from the
master model. If undercuts
are present, section the
master model carefully with
a separating disc from the
underside prior to removal.
10. Trim and smooth the
baseplate borders. If the
master model is damaged
during removal of the
baseplate, the duplicate
model may require
modification to allow
seating of this baseplate for
articulation and tooth set-up.
Alternatively, blocking out
undercuts in the processed
baseplate can help make a
working model. When making
a working model, protect the
borders by applying a utility
wax bead prior to pouring
stone or plaster into the
processed baseplate.
11. For the Hybrid Denture
Technique (Eclipse Baseplate
Resin + Lucitone 199®), refer
to Eclipse® Wax Remover
Directions for Use.
B. Occlusion Rims
1.
Place wax occlusal rims on
the baseplate and send to
the clinician for aesthetic and
occlusal records.
2. When returned, mount the
models using the baseplate(s)
and occlusal rims with
the occlusal registration.
Transfer occlusal markings
and aesthetic markings
(i.e. midline, canine, smile
line, dominant side) to the
opposing cast.
3. While the baseplate is still
on the model, completely
clean all traces of wax from
the baseplate by rinsing
with clean boiling water,
or use a lab steamer. DO
NOT IMMERSE IN BOILING
WATER. Complete removal
of wax is critical to success.
4. Allow the baseplate to cool to
room temperature while still
on the model.
5. Roughen the entire outer
surface of the baseplate
with a coarse carbide bur or
diamond to enhance bonding.
A butt joint is recommended
about 1-2 mm above the
depth of the sulcus. The goal
is to eliminate feathered
edges of Contour Resin on
the flange.
6. Clean the entire
prepared surface,
thoroughly
scrubbing with a
clean denture
brush and tap water; then
dry. Following this, use a
brush and isopropyl or ethyl/
denatured alcohol to clean
the surface; then blow dry
with clean compressed air.
C. Tooth Set-Up
Interim Preparation Steps:
1.
Soften Set-up Resin by
placing the package
inside the Dentpsly Sirona
Conditioning Oven at 131°F
(55°C) for about 5-10 minutes
if desired.
2. Melt Contour Resin in the
Dentpsly Sirona Melting Pot
(120V) on setting 8, or in the
Renfert Vario E Melting Pot
(230V) at a temperature of
189°F (87°C).
NOTE: Clean the Contour Resin
from the Dentpsly Sirona Melting
Pot after 8 hours to assure that
only fresh material is used. Limit
light exposure to the melted
Contour Resin by keeping the lid
on the Dentpsly Sirona Melting
Pot closed when not transferring
resin to the denture.
3. Remove wax from teeth with
clean boiling water using the
Dentpsly Sirona Tooth Cage,
or other means.
