Tape drive cleaning
No matter how clean the environment is, debris might build up on the heads of
any tape drive. Every time a tape moves, some of the media surface comes off onto
the heads. Over time, this builds up and causes errors in reading and writing. You
are responsible for cleaning the tape drive in accordance with the cleaning
procedure in "Cleaning the tape drive" on page 36.
Firmware updates
IBM occasionally releases firmware updates for the tape drives. To download
firmware updates, go to
http://www.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TAPE-FILES
Installing firmware updates is your responsibility.
