Installing an optional tape drive

To install a tape drive in bay 1 or 2, complete the following steps:
1. Read the safety information that begins on page v and "Installation guidelines"
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and
3. Remove the side cover (see "Removing the side cover" on page 17).
4. Remove the bezel (see "Removing the bezel" on page 18).
5. Remove the filler panel and EMC shield from the bay in which you want to

7. Slide the tape drive into the drive cage from the front of the server; then,
8. Secure the tape drive to the chassis with the supplied screws.
9. Connect the tape drive cable to the tape drive connector on the system board.
If you have other devices to install or remove, do so now; otherwise, go to
"Completing the installation" on page 31.

Installing a SATA hard disk drive

The server comes with one Serial ATA (SATA) hard disk drive installed. Before you
install a SATA hard disk drive, read the following information:
v Read the documentation that comes with the drive for cabling instructions.
v Route the cable before you install the drive. Do not block the airflow from the fan.
v The server supports two SATA hard disk drives.
