Setting password protection

You can set up a password for accessing operator panel menus. When you have set
a password, access to the following operator panel functions is
password-protected:
v Changing configuration settings
v Importing and exporting cartridges
v Loading and unloading the tape drive
v Cleaning the tape drive
v Running demos
v Resetting the autoloader
A password can be up to six characters in length and is not case sensitive.
When password protection is in effect, you must enter the password before you
can use the operator panel menus. Each time you return to the Home screen and
press the Up a Level button an additional time (or wait 2 minutes), password
protection is reactivated; you must enter the password again to access the menus.
Attention: If you set a password record it in a secure location. The operator panel
functions cannot be used without the password.
Setting an operator panel password
To set a password for the operator panel, complete the following steps:
__ 1. On the operator panel, press the Down a Level button to display the main

Description
Use this option to view an event log for the autoloader,
sensor readings, individual cartridge cell statistics, bar code
label information, cartridge inventory, firmware versions,
and serial numbers for the autoloader and tape drive.
Use this option to view and change the SCSI IDs, operating
mode, emulation mode, autoclean settings, and Ethernet
settings. Also use this option to set up a password to restrict
access to the operator panel menus.
Use this option to run demonstrations, perform diagnostic
tests, and reset the autoloader.
