Steam batteries

Batteries that are to be fed with steam consist of horizontal or vertical pipes connected to the manifolds and positioned so as to help the
drainage of condensate as much as possible because, should the condensate stagnate inside, it could generate breaks due to the "water
hammer".
In order to avoid this trouble, we suggest to pay particular attention when dimensioning the registers and the condensate drains, the latter
must be always over-dimensioned and provided singularly for every battery.
As concerns the dimensioning of pipelines and the possible heating of air, the above-mentioned notes apply also to the water batteries.
In all these batteries the steam flow enters the top coupling while the condensate gets out of the bottom coupling.

Direct-expansion batteries

These batteries are specially intended for being fed with cooling fluid (of the type defined by the Customer) that, expanding, take heat from
air during the counter-current crossing of the bladed pack.
Their connection shall be carried out by a Refrigerator Technician that shall set the pipeline dimensions and adopt all the equipment
(expansion valves, etc.) and devices (drain-traps, etc.) that are considered to be necessary according to power and positioning, against the
UTA, of the relevant motorized condensation unit.
In order to avoid the formation of ice, a safety device shall be always provided in order not to permit the working of the cooling machine if
the correct flow of air through the battery is not detected.
The UTA shall always have advanced start and delayed stop against the working of the cooling unit coupled to it.
Also these batteries are positioned in collection basins provided with drain that shall be provided with appropriate drain-traps described
below.

Electric batteries

They consist of armored resistances made of steel pipes with spiroid finning, contained in a galvanized steel frame with assembly, inside
the UTA, completely similar to the water batteries. They are always complete with safety thermostat to be set at a value ranging from 70° to
80°C.
The connection of these batteries must be carried out by an Electrician in compliance with the provided diagram and the CEI-EN Standards
in force.
The safety thermostat must be always connected to the auxiliaries of the battery remote switches for the immediate interruption of the
power supply in case of its operation.
It is compulsory to provide the appropriate equipment aimed at interrupting the power supply to the electric batteries in case the air flow
stops.
The contemporary startup of fan and electric batteries is allowed while their stop must be always delayed at least of two minutes in order to
ensure their cooling down.

Dimensioning of drain-traps

All the condensate collection trays are provided with drain at which an appropriate drain-trap must be provided in order to prevent air from
entering (in vacuum systems) or getting out (in pressurized systems) and, as a consequence, avoid the infiltration of smells or insects.
The dimensioning of
