5 Mounting and start-up
NOTICE
!
Risk of malfunction due to incorrect sequence
of mounting, installation and start-up.
Observe the prescribed sequence.
Î Sequence:
1. Remove the protective caps from the
pneumatic connections.
2. Mount the positioner on the valve.
Î Section 5.3 onwards
3. Perform pneumatic installation.
Î Section 5.9 onwards
4. Perform electrical installation.
Î Section 5.11 onwards
5. Perform settings.
Î Section 7 onwards
NOTICE
!
Excessively high pressures will damage the
positioner.
For actuators with less than 240 cm² dia-

5.1 Mounting position

NOTICE
!
Risk of damage to the positioner due to in-
correct mounting position.
− Do not mount the positioner with the back
of the device facing upward.
− Do not seal or restrict the vent opening
when the device is installed on site.
Î Observe mounting position (see Fig. 3).
Î Do not seal or restrict the vent opening
(see Fig. 2) when the device is installed
on site.

5.2 Lever and pin position

The positioner is adapted to the actuator and
to the rated travel by the lever on the back of
the positioner and the pin inserted into the
lever.
The travel tables on page 20 show the
maximum adjustment range at the position-
er. The travel that can be implemented at the
valve is additionally restricted by the selected
fail-safe position and the required compres-
sion of the actuator springs.
The positioner is equipped with the M lever
(pin position 35) as standard (see Fig. 4).
On exchanging the lever:
Î Move the newly mounted lever once all
the way as far as it will go in both direc-
tions to adapt it to the internal measuring
lever.
