Battery care
4
The BMW Motorrad communic-
ation system is equipped with
32
a nickel metal hydride battery
and has a total capacity of
2400 mAh. Charging electronics
prevent overcharging of the
battery: the electronics switch
automatically to float charge
as soon as the battery has
recharged.
It takes an average of four hours
for a discharged battery to re-
z
charge; fully charged batteries
enable the system to operate for
up to 14 hours.
To prevent premature ageing, a
rechargeable battery should be
charged at intervals of about six
weeks while not in use.
Rechargeable batteries have
a limited life of not more than
three years. When the batter-
ies fade appreciably and can no
longer hold their charge for more
than a short period of time they
can be replaced by your author-
ised BMW Motorrad dealer. For
safety reasons, use only genuine
BMW Motorrad rechargeable bat-
teries.
ATTENTION
Incorrect battery charging
Damage to the battery
Only charge the battery using
the charger supplied.
The micro USB port that func-
tions as the charging adapter
tucks underneath your helmet's
neck pad. The charging cable
supplied can be plugged into this
socket.
Disposal
Do not attempt to dispose
of spent rechargeables
and batteries as domestic waste:
bring rechargeables that can no
longer be used to an approved
collection centre or hand them in
to the retailer when you purchase
replacements.
Charge status indicator
The battery's state of charge is
displayed by the green LED 4.
The current state of charge is
indicated when you switch the
system on or off and when the
following values for the state of
charge are reached:
1
State of charge full
Acoustic message "full"
LED is OFF
