5.7.3 Downgrade input

By using the Downgrade input, it is possible to reduce the
grid connection current that is not available at its maximum
level under certain circumstances or at certain times.
For example, you can control the Downgrade input by the
following criteria or systems:
„ Electricity rate
„ Time
„ Load shedding
„ Manually
Requirements for the ACU:
„ ACU software v2.9 or higher.
You can view and update the software ver-
sion in the web interface.
Controlling over the Downgrade input requires a potential-
free switching contact that you must install externally. The
potential-free switching contact differs according to the
desired control system and could be, for example, a load
shedding relay or a timer. As soon as the potential-free
switching contact closes, the maximum grid connection
current decreases according to the implemented configu-
ration.
For the configuration, observe the installation manual

ATTENTION
Damage to the device due to improper installation
Improper installation can lead to damage or malfunctions
of the external potential-free switching contact. Observe
the following requirements during the installation:
„ The external switching contact must be potential-free
and safely isolated from any other voltage.
„ The external switching contact must be designed for
a voltage of 12 V DC with a contact current of approx.
2 mA.
„ The voltage at the signal terminals is low voltage SELV.
Carry out the installation in such a way that the low volt-
age SELV continues to be present.
„ To prevent interference coupling, do not route the
cables to the external switching contact directly adja-
cent to or parallel to the power supply.
„ Run both lines parallel over the entire distance.
„ Provide for secure separation of the remaining installa-
tion from the highest occurring voltage.
„ Do not connect any equipment other than the external
switching contact to the signal terminals.
„ Do not exceed a cable length of 30 m. Install a coupling
relay if necessary.
Observe the circuit diagram.

MENNEKES offers a conversion kit as an acces-
sory for devices that are not designed to operate
with the Downgrade input.
Observe the enclosed installation manual for

the conversion.
