Troubleshooting
Common Error Codes
If you see this error code, the Terminal Server 720 has been configured for more memory than
is actually installed:
First Pass

Second Pass

To correct the error, you must either configure the server for less installed memory, using the
Initialization Configuration menu, or install additional SIMM memory. (The SIMM
memory installation should only be performed by qualified personnel.) The Configuration
menu is described in Chapter 4. Use Option 2, Modify Unit Configuration, to specify the
amount of installed memory.
If you see one of these error codes, you must use the Initialization Configuration menu to re-
initialize the unit:
First Pass
3, 4, 8
Second Pass
2, 8
or
First Pass
3, 4, 6, 7
Second Pass

Appendix C explains how to access the Initialization Configuration menu. Select Option 2,
Modify Unit Configuration, from the menu.
If you see the following error code during operation, the control storage for the slot in which the
terminal server is installed is corrupted. This is different from normal error code display in that
it is not fatal (i.e., normal port, Local Management Bus, and network activities are maintained).
First Pass
3, 4, 6, 7
Second Pass
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
The fault can be corrected remotely by having a network manager issue one of the Network
9000 DEFINE CHASSIS SLOT commands which affects the initialization records.
Afterwards, the error code goes is no longer displayed and normal LED activity resumes
(flashing RUN and segment LEDs, port activity, etc).
