DOES MFG RECOMMEND TURNING OFF UNIT FOR WHEN NOT IN USE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS?

Yes, Sub-Zero recommends using the UNIT ON/OFF key pad to turn off the unit during extended vacations or when not in use for several months. This avoids the need to shut off power at the circuit breaker or wall receptacle.
