Wiring Connections to the Output Port

The Hydra has "sinking outputs", which means that it switches the Ground or "Minus" side of
the power supply. In this case you will connect the Positive "Plus" of your external power
supply directly to all output devices. The Negative "Minus" side of each output device will
connect to one of the output numbers 1 through 8 on the Hydra.
*If you are using inductive
loads, such as a relay coil or small solenoid coil, you must also
connect your external power supply Positive "Plus" to the
+
terminal for "back EMF" protection.
Alternately you may supply external clamping diodes at the coil. Lamps, LEDs and SSR solid
state relays do not require this
+
connection to the Hydra.
Each output is rated for up to 150mA at up to 28 Volts DC, one output active.
