SECTION 1. INTRODUCTION This section overviews the installation procedures, and the physical and functional features of the 40W and 50W ERT modules. This section also lists the specific meters that are compatible with these modules and illustrates their various configurations. Finally, this section lists the available installation kits and the tools and materials you’ll need to install the 40W and 50W modules.
Meter-ERT Compatibility Before you install a 40W or 50W ERT module, make sure it is the correct one for the meter. Match the part number in Table 1-1 with the meter. Refer to Water ERT® Meter Compatibility list for details and exceptions.
40W & 50W ERT Configurations The next three pages illustrate the installation configurations described in this manual. 1.5.1 Badger 01092 01090 REMOTE-MOUNT. The ERT module is wired to DIRECT-MOUNT. The ERT module mounts the unterminated cable, which can be up to 500 directly on the bracket supplied by Badger.
1.5.3 Hersey Translator 01863 REMOTE-MOUNT. The ERT module is wired to the cable, which can be up to 300 feet in length. The remote can be mounted on a pipe or flat surface. 1.5.4 Hersey ER 01872 REMOTE-MOUNT. The ERT module is wired to either the 5 foot or 25 foot ER cable assembly. The remote can be mounted on a pipe or flat surface.
1.5.5 SCHLUMBERGER ARB V and ProRead 01342F The illustration shows a remote-mount on a Neptune T-10 meter equipped with a ProRead register. The ARB V register is similar in appearance to the ProRead register. The remote can be mounted on a pipe or flat surface, with a cable up to 300 feet in length. A band clamp is used to mount the ERT module to the register.
1–6 Installation Kits Configuration Kit (part number CFG-0067-001). This kit contains the accessories for remote-mounting a 40W or 50W Scancoder ERT module to an adapter plate, wood, or sheet metal surface. The contents of this kit are illustrated in Appendix B. Configuration Kit (part number CFG-0067-002).
NOTE: For remote-mount installations, customer-supplied cable is required (Badger supplies 3 feet to 100 feet, typically 25 feet); cable length should not exceed 300 feet (Badger 500 feet). Itron recom- mends 19-26 gauge, pre-bonded or solid conductor wire with a maximum diameter of .082" (individual wire with insulation).
