C-Probe 1. The user manual should be available at the site where C-Probe 1 is used. It should be read and understood by all people working with C-Probe 1.
Principle Rules for Usage • C-Probe 1 should only be used when in a technically sound condition. Its use should be in accordance with the regulations, in a safe manner, and mindful of the dangers. In particular, avoid disruptions that could in turn affect safety.
IEC 1010 regulation! • Ensure that the input sockets are grounded or appropriately isolated! Warranty There is a 12 months warranty period on C-Probe 1, starting with the delivery date. The warranty is limited exclusively to faulty material or manufacturing defects.
AC/DC Current Clamp C-Probe 1 General Data • Dimensions: 230 x 67 x 36 mm • Max. wire diameter: 11.8 mm • Max. opening of clamp jaws: 15 mm • Connecting cable: 2 m length, isolated banana plugs • Weight:...
Technical Data The above mentioned measurement deviations relate to the following data: • ambient temperature of 18 °C to 28 °C • relative humidity between 20 % and 75 % • wire centred and parallel to the marking on the clamp •...
AC/DC Current Clamp C-Probe 1 Environmental Conditions Figure 3-2: Environmental conditions Reference area Environmental conditions Environm e ntal conditions for C-Probe 1 Operation Storage Temperature / °C Te m pe rature / °C Safety 3.8.1 Electrical Safety • Device with double isolation in hand-held area at normal usage, and single isolation between primary winding and secondary output.
Technical Data 3.8.2 Electromagnetic Compatibility • Electrostatic discharge: 4 kV without interference. 8 kV without destruction. • Interference field: 3 V/m according to IEC 801-2. • Transients: 1 kV class 1 without interference. 2 kV class 2 with low interference according to IEC 801-4.
Figure 4-1: Current clamp C-Probe 1 C-Probe 1 is equipped with a Hall probe that can be used to measure both alternating and direct current potential free without the need to interfere with the circuit to be measured.
AC/DC Current Clamp C-Probe 1 Description of the operating elements Figure 4-2: Operating elements of C-Probe 1 Legend: 1. Slide switch with 3 positons (OFF, 10 mV/A, 100 mV/A). 2. Battery condition indicator. 3. Zero adjustment of the current clamp.

AC/DC Current Clamp C-Probe 1 6 Control lamp for measurement range overflow "OL" This red LED lights up if • the measured current exceeds the adjusted measurement range • short current peaks exceed the measurement range • the measurement is not valid due to other reasons.
Figure 5-1: Zero adjustment 1. Connect C-Probe 1 to a DC voltmeter, e.g. to the Analog DC Input of the CMC 256 test set. 2. Select a measurement range with a resolution of at least 10 mV.
2. Perform a zero adjustment, if required (for example with the Analog DC Input of the CMC 256 test set). 3. Connect C-Probe 1 to one of the analog outputs of the CMC 256 test set (red = +, black = -).
Operation Note: If remanence effects occur after measuring high DC currents, these effects can be eliminated either by opening and closing the clamp jaws several times (without a grasped wire!) or by exposing the clamp to a decreasing magnetic field. Battery Check If the current clamp is switched on and the battery condition indicator "ON"...
Maintenance and Service Storage If you either store or do not use C-Probe 1 for a longer period of time, please remove the battery and store it separately. The battery acid may run out, which would result in a damage of the current clamp.
