Applying Electrodes
To derive the MHR (when you do not want to view the MECG waveform), you can place the
electrodes just below the outer end of the clavicle near each shoulder.

Making Connections
WARNING
Follow the instructions supplied with each of the monitoring accessories you are using.
Prepare for monitoring MHR using the list below. The standard procedures in use in your facility
determine the sequence of actions.
Depending on the equipment you are using, ensure that either the Patient Module or the Toco
transducer is connected to the fetal monitor.
Connect a pre-gelled Foam Electrode to each of the two leads on the MECG Adapter Cable.
Apply the Foam Electrodes to the patient, following the instructions supplied with the Foam
Electrodes.
Depending on the equipment you are using, connect the pink connector plug on the MECG
Adapter Cable to the pink connector on either the Patient Module or the Toco
You are now ready to monitor MHR.
Monitoring MHR
Switch on the recorder.
