Heat sink (includes replacement thermal material)
Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:
1.
Prepare the computer for disassembly
2.
Remove the keyboard/top cover (see
components:

Battery (see

Solid-state drive (see

System board (see
Remove the heat sink:
1.
Turn the system board upside down with the rear toward you.
2.
Remove the four Phillips M2.0 × 3.0 screws (1) that secure the heat sink to the system board.
3.
Remove the heat sink from the system board (2).
NOTE:
The thermal material must be thoroughly cleaned from the surfaces of the heat sink and the system
board each time the heat sink is removed. Thermal paste is used on the processor (1) and the heat sink
section (2) that services it.
