Reflectors
Bikes shall be equipped with reflective devices to permit recognition and
identification under illumination from motor vehicle headlamps. In the
USA, the requirements for reflectors are regulated in the "16 CFR 1512.16
- Requirements for reflectors". The following table provides an overview of
the required reflectors, as well as a small selection of characteristics which
these reflectors should have. For additional information, please see "16

be directed forward within 5° of the
horizontal-vertical alignment of the
bike when the wheels are tracking in a
straight line.

Lighting
In Germany the requirements for lighting on bikes is regulated in Section
67 of the Road Traffic Licensing Regulation (StVZO) and in the Technical
Requirements for vehicle parts. Lighting includes both battery and
dynamo-powered lights.
