1 GENERAL
The 1850 TSS-320 equipment performs Multi-Service integration (SDH/Sonet, Data, WDM and PDH)
Indeed by combining Sonet/SDH ADM and DCS, WDM Mux/Demux, multiservice data switching and
aggregation capabilities in one NE, 1850TSS will allow network operators to easily increment function-
alities and performances of their network leveraging on current infrastructures.
The present handbook contains detailed information of SDH units and Optical Modules used in the
equipment for Synchronous applications.
For all general information on the equipment and for details on common unit used in all the various appli-
cations refers to the Technical Handbook Common (ref.[2] on page 10)
More in detail refer to the cited handbook for:
–

1.1 SDH network configuration
The 1850 TSS-320 equipment is compliant with the SDH Synchronous Digital Hierarchy defined by the
ITU-T Recs.
The equipment 1850 TSS-320 can be utilized in metropolitan networks configured for standard plesio-
chronous or synchronous systems.
It is also possible to interface the line with CWDM application by inserting the relevant board directly in
the 1850 TSS-320 subrack; for details about CWDM application refer to relevant Technical Handbook.
The1850TSS-320 can be suitably employed on linear, ring and hub networks and on protected or unpro-
tected line links.
The equipment applications depends on the different types of networks available.
